The coming weeks have so much happening that we've decided to make a special mid-month effort to let you know what's going on. In fact, why head all the way up to Montreal for Kinetic or England for Torture Garden with such great stuff in the works? Okay, so some of us are stuck in the area. But we can take solace in some great venues right in our own back yard!
Saturday, 16th - DXS Rapture celebrates one of DC's best underground parties with an unbelievable celebration! Behind the decks, DJ Wein has put together an all star line up with Dirty-B, London Shadows, & DJ Transept! Noted Fetish Model Veronica Pierce will be on hand, plus appearances by SLYX Fashion & Dark Electric, as well as a number of noted talent in the scene. Rapture takes place in DC's coolest 'Speakeasy' location (with the look & feel of a completely underground venue, but with all permits in place & legalities fully confirmed).
$35 monthly membership (payable through pay pal) offers full access plus open bar all night long. Doors open at 9pm. Event runs 'til 3am. RSVP at DXSRapture@Gmail.com
Beat the Clock: Earlier this Saturday afternoon, Tamika & Friends host a Benefit Walk to raise awareness about HPV & Cervical Cancer. This is a very noteworthy cause & we'd like to offer it our full support. Please visit http://tamikaandfriends.org/btc/aboutthewalk.html for full details.
Can't wait? Then check out DJ London Shadows as she hosts 80's Night at Madam's Organ, held every Wednesday in the cool & cozy upstairs lounge. This week special guest DJ Rex comes straight from England. He & London go head to head for U.K. 80's vs. U.S. 80's spin off. In case you miss him, DJ Rex will also be making an appearance this week at Midnight.
And in case you haven't heard…
Thu 21st - Exposure hosts Das Ich w/ Soil & Eclipse, & Red This Ever live! A must see.
If you're going to the show, then why not get the night started with Dark Odyssey - hosting one of the city's best alternative happy hours (located in their own dedicated room in the upstairs bar of the Dupont Italian Kitchen).
Sun May 24th - Tabu Takeover / Studio 54 Party (www.luckyplayparty.com): one day British Lucky Paul had a dream - to throw a party so huge that it would be forever remembered. Soon he had an idea, to bring Studio 54 back from an era long since past & throw one of the best damn parties the scene had ever seen. So on Memorial Day Weekend, the original may be gone but you can relive a time of models & mayhem, decadence & desire, all in a place where anything goes & there are no rules. For one night, we'll take over the Tabu Social Club & transform it into a party of legendary stature. Indeed, a night worthy of its name & reputation: Studio 54...
Doors open at 8pm w/ final entry at 11pm (last call is 2am w/ after hours at the Ramada). Tabu is at 1115 N Rolling Road, Catonsville, MD (a beautiful underground club located discreetly behind an unassuming Chinese Restaurant). Tickets are $20 in advance. The event is BYOB, but there's a fully functional bar. To which, Rick & Ariel will be your guest bartenders, so expect awesome drinks & total debauchery all night long - including "cocaine body shots" (& yes, they're legal). Mixers & mayhem freely provided. Venue provides bar, café seating, dance floor, dancing cages, DJ, full dungeon equipment, fantasy rooms, & a professional light & sound system. Don't want to drive home? The local Ramada is only $55 for accommodations of 4 people. It's a night not be missed!
Stuck in DC? Then from the people of Alchemy, one of DC's greatest traditions continues: Goth Prom will be hosted by Town Dance Club & will carry an all star lineup of top DJ's in the scene.
And later in the month…
Sat 30th - Red This Ever will be performing Live at Midnight.
And counter to the mainstream, DC TNG will host its Summer Kick-Off BBQ held at Judy's Lavish Dungeon. Go time is 6pm. Party rolls until 3am. And yes, the grills will be smokin'.
But these are only a few of the great events happening for the rest of May! Ranging from any number of affairs hosted by The Crucible, BESS, Black Rose, Tabu, & Capitol Cream (to name only a few), to Bound's Uniform Party at Asefu, or even Wine in the Woods in the Symphony Woods of Merriweather Post Pavilion, there's something going on for everyone & every taste imaginable.
For more information on these & a ton of other cool stuff, please visit http://www.TheMetroUnderground.com - our calendar lists full details on all events, while our Clubs & Groups carry a rundown of each host organization in & around the area. Further sections include regional & national resources, & even mainstream organizations in the area. Plus more!
And if there's anything we can do for you or your organization, then please be in touch.
We hope you check it out…
